Papal bulls, indulgences & transubstantiation

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther sent a now-famous letter to his Archbishop. He also [allegedly] nailed a copy to the door of the local church. You rock, Martin. Well, you know, except for the whole antisemitism thing. Anyways, The Briefcase is happy to provide some Protestant entertainment for you below. Happy Reformation Day, everyone!

All you Lutherans, get outta yo' seats...
Martin Luther Rap:

Every year this probably gets posted a bazillion times, and so we at the Briefcase follow suit - "The Reformation Polka." It begins about 1:03 into it, we thought it was humorous:

So they got Joseph Fiennes to play the lead in Luther - I have one question: Was the great William Forsythe not available? Sheesh...
"Yeah I heard of him, didn't he play hockey for da Red Wings?"

That is good stuff. Luther was right to note corruptions in the Church at the time, as many others who did not leave the Church were already doing. Luther simply failed to "recognize our authori-tie." And not to mention the flogging he should have received for defacing Church property. That was our "good" door!!

And I remember the movie "Luther" pretty well. Well made and acted, but it had just a few (giant) holes:

And another giant failure of that movie was, as you point out, in the casting. Let me put it this way: "Luther" script + Gary Busey = Box Office GOLD.

I never saw the film. I woulda definitely seen it if Busey was in it. He is indeed a boost to any production. I think he was at his best in Black Sheep and his short lived show on Comedy Central, Hangin' with Busey.

I'm just waiting for the film adaptation of Luther's book. After seeing a few bits of Celebrity Fit Club as well as this season's Celebrity Rehab on VH1, I could see Busey reviving anti-Semitism in Hollywood...
